About

Over an 18 month period (July 2015 – December 2016) the staff of the Five County Association of Governments worked with cities, towns and counties throughout this five-county region to develop the “Five County Association of Governments Multi-Jurisdiction Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan  – Five Year Plan 2017-2022“.

We originally created this page to keep the Planning Team, Elected and Appointed Officials, and the General Public in the southwest region of Utah up to date on the planning process. The web page will now be used to provide those above a means to access the adopted Plan.

The purpose developing and adopting a Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan is to reduce potential losses from future disasters by identifying natural hazards that impact our communities (i.e. flooding, wildfires, landslides, etc.) and plan and propose actions to reduce or eliminate potential losses from those hazards.

The Plan is a FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) requirement for local jurisdictions to access federal hazard mitigation assistance.

NOTE:   THE PLAN, WHICH HAS BEEN APPROVED BY FEMA, PENDING ADOPTION, HAS BEEN PROMULGATED TO ALL ENTITIES WHICH PARTICIPATED IN THE PLAN’S DEVELOPMENT FOR ADOPTION BY FORMAL RESOLUTION OF EACH JURISDICTION’S GOVERNING BODY. ONCE ADOPTED BY AN ENTITY, THE PLAN WILL SERVE AS THAT ENTITY’S PLAN FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS.
